Minification which is also called minimization is the process of removing all unnecessary characters from the source code in programing languages without changing its main functionality, specially JavaScript. The things that fall under these unnecessary characters are usually white space characters, comments, newline characters and at times, block delimiters. These may be required for adding readability to the code but are not required for executing it.

 The minified source code is very useful for languages like JavaScript while transmission, as it reduces the amount of the data that needs to be transmitted.
